Bird Watching

Garroch Glen has an abundance of birds visiting, from Robins, and Wrens to Golden Eagles and Buzzards. In 2001 Red Kites were re-introduced into Galloway and now you can see them spectacularly soaring overhead at Garroch Glen.

Take advantage of one of our organised tours, where you will be guided through signposted woodland and/or hill walks. Tours range from a short half an hour walk, to a full day depending on your requirements.

Here is an example of birds you can expect to see at Garroch Glen:

Garden birds - Siskin, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Blue Tits, Coal Tits, Blackbirds, Sparrows to name just a few....

Woodland – Wren, Nuthatch, Tree Creeper, Woodpecker amongst others...

Moorland– Stonechats, Whinchats, Skylark...

Birds of prey – Hen harrier, Kestrel, Peregrine, Buzzard, Red Kite, Golden Eagle...

Game birds - Red grouse, Black Grouse, Pheasant...
